Silibwet FC narrowly edged Kiplokyi FC 1-0 to keep their hopes a live in the ongoing Kass Chairman’s Cup tournament at Siongiroi ground. The two teams held each other to a barren draw at the stroke of normal time, forcing the match referee Samwel Langat to extend the game into extra time.
Silibwet’s Robert Kiplang’at scored the all important goal in the 8th minute of the extra time to send their arch rivals out of the tournament after heading home a cross from team-mate Felix Kipkorir. Silibwet coach Wesley Lang’at said they have proved to their opponents that the team is able to win any game any where. “We have proved to those who doubted our ability wrong.
The truth is that we can win anywhere without home advantage,” said Langat in a post match interview. Silibwet’s future in the Nationwide FKL League is hanging in balance as the officials are yet to decided whether to ban them from the league.
