ABUJA-In view of the crises in four African nations, the Federal Government has so far evacuated over 10,000 Nigerians between the months of February and April 2011.
Director General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Sidi, stated this at a meeting he had with stakeholders in emergency management.
According to him, the evacuation covers such crisis-ridden countries as Egypt, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire and Libya.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan directed the immediate evacuation of Nigerians in these crisis-torn countries .
Sani-Sidi, who was represented by the Director of Training, Mrs. Clementine Aisueni, said: “The recent socio-political crisis in the Middle East and some African countries, particularly Egypt, Tunisia, Cote ‘D’ Ivoire and Libya, posed tremendous challenges to our citizens.”
