LAGOS – Justice Abeeb Abiru of an Ikeja High Court, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, to produce the Managing Director of Folio Communications Limited, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, his brother, Noel, and their company to answer to the charge against them.

The court’s order was sequel to a 40-count charge of alleged stealing of N2.5bn worth of property  belonging to Daily Times brought against the duo by the Federal Government.

The defendants, according to the new charge, are accused of making false representation to the Bureau of Public Enterprise, BPE, that they had means to acquire majority shares of Daily Times.

Instead of rescuing the business, it was alleged that they mortgaged the assets of the newspaper and sold some of the property to realise the acquisition of the said shares. The offence is contrary to Section 8 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act of 1995 as amended and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.
