Zambia: Chirundu Border Post Receives SADC Award

    THE Chirundu One Stop Border Post has been bestowed with the Special Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) excellent performance award.

    The award was announced at the African Business Awards Gala Dinner held at Landmark Hotel, in London on Wednesday last week.

    Namibian President, Hifikepunye Pohamba graced the occasion.

    According to a statement issued by Second Secretary for Press at Zambia’s High Commission in London Rejoice Lukumba, SADC executive secretary, Dr. Tomáz Augusto Salomão, received the award on behalf of Chirundu One Stop Border Post.

    Zambia’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Royson Mukwena, who was among dignitaries that witnessed the presentation of the award, said the recognition of Chirundu One Stop Boarder Post was a good development for Zambia as it portrayed the country in good standing in terms of providing valuable service.

    Professor Mukwena encouraged staff and management at Chirundu One Stop Border Post to continue with the good work for others to emulate.

    “The award is proof that the services provided at Chirundu One Stop Border Post are of high standards and I can only encourage staff and management to continue with the same commitment,” Prof. Mukwena said.

    Other categories included, Business Leader of the Year, Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year, Award for Innovation, Award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility and Award for Good Corporate Governance.

    Others were Green Award of the Year, Creative Industry Award, Investor of the Year, Award for Best Agricultural Development , Country Achievement for Sustained Improvement in Investment Climate and Lifetime Achievement Award.

    The awards are organised by African Business Magazine, and the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) to recognise Africa’s rapidly transforming economy.

    The African Business Awards is the key annual event for the African business world and aims to recognise business leaders and companies that have excelled in Africa over the last year.
