The measure of a team’s success lies not only in how many fronts they compete in a season but in how many they actually emerge triumphant in.

Ulinzi Stars having already bagged the Kenya Premier League crown can be considered a successful side and they can enhance their reputation further today when they face Western Stima in the inaugural KPL Top eight tourney at Nyayo National Stadium today (kick-off 3pm). “Stima are a very tough side but we know on our day we can beat any team and hopefully we will win the Top Eight trophy today,” said Benjamin Nyangweso, the Ulinzi coach.

Matches will come thick and fast for the soldiers because soon after their clash with Stima whereby the winner walks home with Sh1m the solders will swiftly depart fro Dar es Salaam en route to Morogoro, Tanzania tomorrow to begin their Cecafa club championship campaign.

Stima will be no pushovers and will take advantage of any wandering minds within the soldiers’ rank and file with coach Henry Omino oozing confidence his players, having already dispatched Tusker and Sofapaka will look to complete the job by beating the KPL champions.”I am confident that we can be victorious. We have beaten some of the best teams to reach here and we cannot afford to let all that go to waste. Being in the final in such a tough tournament proves we have achieved something.” he said

To achieve that the Kakamega side will have to fill the goal scoring gap left by the departure of Francis Chinjili who has joined AFC Leopards.

The soldiers have already beaten Stima at their own backyard in the league and will be slight favorites to clinch the cash.
