Three men have been arrested by the Airport District Police Command for attempting to sell some stolen cables on the Tema Motorway. The cables are believed to be the property of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The suspects are Yaw Asante, 32, a welder; Donas Abotse, 43, a mechanic and Yusif Isaka, a scrap dealer. Narrating the incident to Daily Guide, the Airport District Crime Officer, DSP Felix Agbenyegah Anyidoho, said a police patrol team spotted the three suspects holding the two pieces of cable on the Tema Motorway around 7:30pm on Saturday evening.

Upon seeing the police, they took to their heels but were chased and consequently arrested. Upon interrogation, Yusif Isaka said Yaw Asante and Donas Abotse contacted him that they had some cables for sale. “While we were still negotiating on the price, the police intercepted and arrested us,” he added.

Meanwhile, suspect Abotse Donas and Yaw Asante, who work at Syntax Tank Company Limited, alleged that the cables were stolen from the work place. DSP Felix Agbenyegah Anyidoho said investigations were ongoing while the police prepared the suspects for court.
