The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, has seized on threats by the acting head of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) to track down politicians who sponsor their campaigns with drug money, as the perfect opportunity for him to clear his name of persistent rumours that he is a drug dealer. Ghanaian rapper D-Black failed to grab an award at the just-ended 2011 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, United States June 26, 2011.

D-black was nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) award category but was unable to grab the award making him the second Ghanaian musician not to have won the award after Kojo Antwi.

Tuface Idibia and D’banj, two of the most popular Nigerian singers  were named as joint winners of the award.

But D-Black can raise his head high because this is the first time he has been nominated by BET. Other musicians in the same category were Angelique Kidjo from Benin, Teargas from South Africa and DR Congo’s Fally Ipupa.

The only good news for Ghana was when Ghanaian-born British Actor, Idris Elba won the Best Actor Award.
