“You have made the minister smile!” These were the first words from energy minister Kiraitu Murungi to the audience at the KICC. He was presiding over the unveiling of the new face of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) on Wednesday afternoon.

The KPLC is one parastatal that has quite a checkered past where consumers are concerned. With power black outs being the order of the day for some and complaints from homes and industry at its highest the company made a decision to change. They brought on board a new management and over the last two years they have been working hard to give the name of the organization a new face. The culmination of the work was the branding ceremony that was witnessed at the ultra modern KICC.

The organization spared no expense to show its new face with award winning singer Nameless giving his usual energetic performance. The singer did a good job but was almost upstaged by the KPLC board of Directors Engineer John Kariuki and the energy minister with some of their chini kwa chini tunes.
