THE National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) has sponsored over 100 entrepreneurs to participate in the 38th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair 2011, which starts on Tuesday.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the council’s Director of Empowerment Facilitation, Dr Joyce Chonjo said the entrepreneurs have been drawn from the food processing, furniture-manufacturing, minerals, weaving, tailoring and beverages cluster.

She said the sponsorship aims to provide opportunities to local entrepreneurs to enable them showcase their goods during the trade fair.

“We hope this opportunity will help them attract more customers and create new markets”, she said.

She said that NEEC would continue supporting local entrepreneurs to access markets at the region and internationally.

Dr Chonjo said that the local entrepreneurs could maker a big difference on the economy through creation of jobs.

NEEC is a government organization which was created in 2004 to manage national policy of empowerment in a sense of creating, planning, coordinate and making follow up of all economic activities.
