Widh-Widh — Heavy clashes between forces loyal to the break away republic of Somaliland and local clan militias from Puntland on Sunday night broke out in parts of Sool region in northern Somalia.
The confrontation which was extremely fierce erupted after the local clan militias attacked key military bases manned by Somaliland forces in Widh-Widh area.
At least one person was confirmed dead and three others injured during overnight’s confrontations.
The militias were resent about a reconciliation meeting that was on Sunday wrapped up in the region of Sool, according to witnesses who spoke to Shabelle Media Network.
However, Calm is reported to have returned at the areas where the clashes occurred, according to residents.
