The defender arrived in England from Supersport United in January but was unable to break into the Spurs first-team and soon found himself out on loan to Preston. The 24-year-old only made six appearances for North End before a fractured metatarsal ended his season and saw him return to London, but Khumalo has insisted he is working hard to be ready for pre-season training.

Liverpool and Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes David De Gea‘s arrival at Manchester United will see the young keeper show the world exactly how good he is.

De Gea, who was part of Spain’s Under-21 European Championship success, arrived in Manchester for his medical before his £18 million move to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid and Reina was delighted to see his compatriot in England.

“I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper,” Reina said, according to the Daily Mirror.

“When it becomes official that he is going to start working in the Premier League, he will prove what a good goalkeeper he is.”

De Gea has only been part of the Atletico first-team for two seasons but he has made such an impression Sir Alex Ferguson sees the 20-year-old as the perfect replacement for the retiring Edwin Van Der Sar.
