Sunderland‘s prospective new striker Ji Dong-Won admits he has not watched a live Premier League game for years.

The forward, on the verge of signing for manager Steve Bruce’s team, is often playing for Chunnam Dragons when Premier League matches are shown live in South Korea.

Despite not watching much top flight English football of late, the 20-year-old is confident that he will adapt well to the game.

Ji told Sports Hankook: “Actually I have not watched a single match of Premier League recently. I just watched match highlights and special video of some players.

“But what you see on TV is far different from what you face on the field. I need to face opponents to really figure out the style of English game.

“When I have night match, I sleep at midnight. And when I have day match, I sleep before half past 11. It became a habit for me to maintain good condition.”

The striker is realistic about his chances of making the first team at the Stadium of Light immediately and is willing to wait for his chance.

He added: “I can be patient for first six months even if opportunity is less than I think. If I could endure that well, I think I can grab a chance when it comes.”
