Tottenham are being marginally tipped to hold onto coveted midfielder Luka Modric for another season with bookmakers.

Bet365 has got involved in the transfer saga pricing the gifted Croatian to stay at White Hart Lane @ 1.66 by the time the summer transfer window closes. Punters can back the Chelsea target to leave at a longer 2.10 as a number of clubs chase his signature.

It is understood that Tottenham are preparing to significantly increase Modric’s wages when the squad return for pre-season training next week. London rivals Chelsea have already had an opening bid of £22m rejected by Spurs which was ridiculed by the club’s manager Harry Redknapp.

New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has been linked with a double £60m swoop for Modric and Spurs team-mate Gareth Bale. Manchester United have also been tipped to bid for the player as a replacement for the recently retired Paul Scholes.
