Ghana Music Award winner and one of Africa’s finest lyricists, Henry Chemphe is set to rock the world in Europe as the headline artiste of the KFUK KFUM Global, TT Global Festival in Norway. His invitation comes at a time when he’s gearing up for the release of a double album by which he hopes to inspire and change the world through music.

As the headline artiste, Chemphe will perform the theme song, an inspirational song which he purposefully designed to capture the total vision of the Organisation for the year 2011. The overall international theme for the year is ‘Together for Change’ with a specific campaign team as ‘Stop poverty’. ‘Global Citizen’ is a song that captures the totality of rhythm, message, vocal dexterity etc. to send the message of change, love, faith, hope and unity. “I see you, I see me: we can make this world a better place: I see blacks, I see whites joining
hands together now…….’Cos .We are GLOBAL CITIZENS”, sings Chemphe and produced by Ghana’s Killbeats and Nigeria’s Josh.

The statistics indicate that 35.000 children are dying every day as a result of poverty. This is completely unacceptable and a scandal that must be stopped. Poverty is not from God. Poverty is man-made. And people can. stop poverty. We need to fight the policies that creates poverty. These are found in several areas and at all levels, including global policies: Economic policies, environmental policies, gender policies.

As global peacemakers for justice we need to influence both attitudes of ourselves and
fellow citizens, but we also need to influence decisions by policymakers. Some policymakers are global players (financial institutions, multinational companies, western governments (UK, US, France, Canada, EU, etc), China, etc), others are national actors (national governments, national companies, etc) and others again are local actors (local governments, local firms, etc).

In order to stop poverty we need capacity at all levels to promote people friendly policies (human rights compliant policies). Today many policies are profit-friendly, not people friendly. The global Y movement has the capacity to
change this. Thus Chemphe has been chosen to sing and through his music draw the attention of the world to this particular problem.

Chemphe also has a new single ‘Change is gonna come’ which he’ll be releasing as part of his double album launch in Norway. Other songs on the albums include ‘Hidden Emotions’, ‘Heart of a Winner’, ‘Like Hell on Earth’, ‘One People’ and ‘Why’.

The albums, an inspirational one titled ‘NEW DAY’ and a love album titled ‘HIDDEN EMOTIONS’ will be released simultaneously on the same day to a global audience in Norway. Tic Tac, Trigmatic and Dr. Chryme are all featured on Chemphe’s new albums. The albums will then be launch later this year In Ghana.

“We are delighted that Chemphe has chosen to launch his New Day album at TT. On Thursday 30 June in the afternoon, TT will move to Gjøvik town centre. Global is responsible for this 3 hours of programme time. It is a chance to show festival participants and members of the public that we are part of an amazing, international YMCA Movement. It is also a time to appeal to young people to work together to change the world, and specifically to be part of Global / Africa Alliance Stop Poverty Campaign. We believe this is the best time for the album launch.

The General Secretary of the Norwegian YMCA (the most senior member of staff), Ms Adelheid F. Hvambsal will introduce Chemphe and his work and vision and declare the album launched. Chemphe will then have the
chance to play some songs from the album”, said the organisers.

Chemphe will get the chance to meet the Finance Minister of Norway, perform alongside some of the biggest musicians in Europe and interact with other dignitaries aswell. “I am delighted to be a part of this great festival”, says Chemphe.

“My music has always carried a strong message and I think that’s why God blessed me with a GMAs with my first album. Haven been to Hong Kong and other places on a similar assignment, I just hope and pray that everything goes on smoothly. I’m working hard to be the musical Mandela!”.

Within a few years in existence in showbiz, Chemphe’s achievements tower above most other with his exceptional song writing and singing talent as his hall mark.

1. He won the best lyricist award at the 2008 GMAs with his debut single ‘why you dey beat am?’.
