The Guardian Shines At Rotary’s Humanitarian Awards

THE Guardian again maintained its leadership role in the media at the maiden edition of Rotary International District 9110, Nigeria, Humanitarian Reporting Awards penultimate Friday as it won Partner in Service Recognition Award.

Debo Oladimeji of The Guardian on Saturday also  won The Water and Sanitation Award and came second in the Disease Prevention and Treatment category of the awards meant for media houses in Lagos and Ogun States.

Others who won awards are: Jennifer Igwe of NTA who won the Poverty Alleviation award; Sámi Otti of The Sun, Basic Education; Augustine Idah of Newswatch won the Peace and Conflict Resolution award; while Anthony Akaeze and Ishaya Ibrahim also, of Newswatch won the  Maternal and Child Health award.

The District Governor, Matthias Oladehinde Shoga disclosed that the award which was the first of its kind in Africa, will now be a yearly event.
