He said the combined efforts made by heads of department and their inputs towards sustainable developmental projects constituted a panacea to the decentralization policy of good governance.
The Regional Minister was addressing the clergy, imams, heads of department and Assembly Members at the opening and dedication of the new administrative block for the Assembly.
The construction of the four-storey block valued at GHC486,439.23, was started in 1998 and has 80 offices to house decentralized departments and agencies of the Assembly.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo noted that the construction of the block would help inject the decentralization policy of good governance in the Local Government System.
He acknowledged the bold step and decision taken by the past and present Assembly Members for the project, which had placed Techiman on top in the region.
The Minister advised the staff and workers, who would be using the new administrative block to cultivate the culture of maintenance, to ensure a longer life span of the block.
Mr Nyamekye-Marfo acknowledged the request by the chiefs and people of the area for the upgrading of the Municipality into a Divisional Police Command and promised to contact the appropriate authorities.
Mr Alex Kofi Kyeremeh, Municipal Chief Executive, urged workers and heads of department as well as the Assembly Members to be committed to self-discipline as a way of combating challenges and also ensuring more successes in their endeavours.
He said the old premises of the Assembly would be re-allocated to the security agencies such as the police, fire and immigration services.
In a sermon, Reverend Prince Owusu Asaku, Chairman of Techiman Local Council of Churches, urged workers to be dedicated to their work and to refrain from the “pull him down” tactics, which sets back the clock of developmental progress.
Oyeadeeyie Asa Akompanin, Krobohene and Kyidomhene of Techiman the Traditional Area, who presided, appealed to the Assembly and the Government to help complete an abandoned court complex in the municipality, started 13 years ago.
He urged workers to exhibit good leadership to ensure total socio-economic development of the Municipality and to be imbued with the fear of God for the success of their programmes.
