Minna — Civil rights activist, Comrade Shehu Sani, has said moves by President Goodluck Jonathan to tackle the Boko Haram problem by talking with traditional rulers would be an effort in futility.

He said the federal government should meet the leadership of the sect, adding that it made the wrong decision in the first instance by killing their leader which made the group more determined.

“The Boko Haram problem cannot be solved because Goodluck Jonathan is talking to the wrong people. The Sultan of Sokoto and emirs are not in good position to solve the crisis. I believe the Boko Haram people should be talked to in an open dialogue and not to go confrontational with them because every government in the world dialogues with people irrespective of their demands and not to go killing and arresting members on a daily basis,” he said.
