Samuel Afum grabs winner for struggling FC Smouha in Egypt

Ghana youth striker Samuel Afum scored on his birthday to claim the points for struggling Egyptian side FC Smouha in their 1-0 win over El Geish on Friday night.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak goal poacher handed Smouha a relegation boost when he stroke home the game’s solitary goal in the 31st minute.

Veteran striker Godwin Attram played him through and Afum coolly lobbed the ball over Emad El Sayed for the game’s only goal.

The Alexandria-based needed maximum points to give themselves a chance of surviving demotion with four matches remaining.

El Geish were the first to have a real chance at goal.

Ghanaian pair Saliu Cobblah and Ernest Papa Arko combined well to set up Sallah Amin who wasted the chance.

Smouha were ordinary and did not create a lot of scoring opportunities.
