Kaduna — The Kaduna centre of the on going Copa Coca Cola began on Thursday with Kaduna team defeating its Abuja counterpart 2-0 with goals from Abdulahi Alfa and Abubakar Saleh. Despite winning the match, Kaduna coach, Abdulsalam A. Jere, was not happy because the players did not play according to instruction.

“I was not that pleased with the performance of my boys because they did not follow our philosophy which is entertainment with positive play,” Jere began.

“I wanted the boys to entertain the crowd such that the stadium will be filled to capacity on Friday in the final.

“We got the result but not entertainment.

Jere reasoned that since any team from Kaduna is expected to play entertaining football, his wards really did not live up to expectations.

“I am happy that we won, that is the most important,” he added.

Kaduna side showed promise from the start of the match with purposeful play that got the Abuja boys pinned to their own half of the field. And no wonder in the 15th minute, goalkeeping error which resulted in a corner kick was converted by Alfa in a goalmouth melee.

The second goal was a result of excellent play by Alfa and Saleh who opened their opponents defence with ease.

The zonal final of the tournament comes up today in Kaduna .

The states taking part in the zonal final are Kaduna , Katsina, Abuja and Kano . The second match was on as at press time.
