Calabar — Former chairmen of the 18 local government council areas in Cross River State have been ordered to give account of all the monies they expended while they were in office, according to the Special Adviser, Department of Projects/Programmes Monitoring and Evaluation in the governor’s office, Mr. Eja-Dons Esege.
Speaking to newsmen in Calabar, he said he and his team of monitors would visit all the councils to ensure that the former chairmen render their accounts properly.
Don Esege said the past chairmen are also expected to show that their expenditure profiles are tied to specific projects and programmes.
He advised past and present chairmen of councils and their directors of works to cooperate with his team, saying the exercise would be carried out on a regular basis to ensure that projects executed by the councils are in accordance with laid down rules and procedures.
