The Trotters squad has been suffering from a lack of depth in recent times and the Scotsman is aware of the overhaul the club requires, especially with the futures of Gary Cahill and Ali Al-Habsi far from certain. Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley has reportedly agreed terms with the club and should officially sign on the opening day of the transfer window on July 1, and Coyle is understood to want to add at least six more faces to the Bolton line-up, but admits it will not happen overnight.

Despite ending up with the most assists in the Premier League and being named player of the year by his team-mates, the 24-year-old did not command a starting place in United’s biggest matches towards the end of the season.

He was often preferred to Antonio Valencia and Ji-Sung Park in the wide areas and was left on the bench during the Champions League final.

The signing of Aston Villa winger Ashley Young on a five-year-deal has been seen as indication by Sir Alex Ferguson that Nani’s time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end, but it is reported that the former Sporting man is still part of the Scot’s plans as he looks to improve his current squad.

It is alleged that Nani will be reassured by Ferguson of his worth to the team when they reunite for pre-season training.
