The Eagles are hard pressed for qualification points in their Nations Cup campaign and coach Samson Siasia is under pressure to win their next game against Madagascar in September, but that match would be a mountain to climb for the Nigerian side.
This is because the Madagascans are planing to make the game a difficult one for the Eagles. Their team has been practicing on the hard and bumpy pitch, which they hope to use as the venue for the all important match.
In the first leg of the tie Nigeria beat Madagascar in Abuja 2-0 and it was a bit of a struggle.
“They are hoping that if the game is played on that pitch, it will unsettle the Eagles. They have started preparations for that match and my only advise for the coaches of the Eagles is that they should be looking for a rough pitch and start training there.
“Otherwise they will come here and get the shock of their lives on the day of the match,” said a concerned Nigerian football fan resident in that country.
The Eagles are trailing Guinea in the group B qualifiers with three points. Another bad result will see Nigeria miss the Nations Cup for the first time in the modern era.
During the 2010 World Cup qualification games, Mozambique equally used a bad pitch to frustrate the Eagles. The Mozambicans almost ran away with the victory, but for two unexplainable disallowed goals.
