East African Breweries’ (EABL) flagship brand Tusker is set to kick off the celebration of its new look bottle with a music extravaganza that will include a reality TV music show and mega concert dubbed “Tusker All Stars.’

The Tusker All Stars will reunite viewers with eight former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) contestants competing for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share a stage with music greats Usher Raymond and Keri Hilson at the “Tusker All Stars Concert” scheduled for August 20, 2011 at the Carnivore Grounds.

The preparatory TV show will begin on June 26 and end on August 14. EABL Group Marketing Director Debra Mallowah said: “The Tusker All Stars will represent a return to their African roots for the two international artistes. It also marks a breaking of the glass ceiling for East Africa’s entertainment scene as our very own share a stage with some of the biggest names in global entertainment.”

Selected based on popularity and career progression, the eight contestants shortlisted include Tusker Project Fame Season 3 winner Alpha Rwirangira from Rwanda; Kenya’s Bernard Nganga and Patricia Kihoro; TPF2’s Tanzanian heartthrob Hemedy Suleiman, his compatriot Peter Msechu; TPF4 winner Ugandan Davis Ntare, plus the same season’s Amileena Mwenesi and TPF3’s Caroline Nabulime, both known for their vocal range and dancing prowess.

However, TPF2 winner, Uganda’s Esther Nabaasa, is curiously missing on the list. Perhaps this is because she has largely been inactive on the music scene. Running for eight weeks, the show will showcase the stars at their best, performing as individuals and as groups.

Their challenge is to entertain East Africa with riveting music acts each week while showcasing their star quality and versatility. Unlike Tusker Project Fame where the primary focus is on singing ability, Tusker All Stars will not only seek to bring out the whole entertainment package, but also serve to show East Africa how their favourite stars have grown since their TPF debuts.

The audience will be able to follow the weekly shows every Sunday on UBC TV from 8:05pm. Viewers will vote to select the top three Tusker All Stars they would like to perform at the All Stars concert.

Our own Gaetano Kagwa and Kenya’s Eve D’Souza have been announced as the co-hosts of the reality show.
