Sebastian Larsson has revealed that Steve Bruce convinced him to join Sunderland.

The 26-year-old midfielder did not come to new terms with Birmingham City, and allowed his contract to run down after the club was relegated to the Championship.

There had been some talk surrounding a potential return to Arsenal, but it was eventually announced that an agreement had been struck with the Black Cats.

Larsson is set to sign the contract and officially become a Sunderland player on July 1.

“I had other alternatives but it’s great to sign with a club like Sunderland,” he said, according to The Sun.

“Steve Bruce showed he wanted me and that’s important. Sunderland are building for the future.”

Sunderland have also been linked with a move for Ipswich Town youngster Connor Wickham.
