It’s bad enough that you feel tired, listless and blue. But do you know how depression hurts your body

Stephen Appiah

Ex-Ghana defender Sammy Kuffuor says Stephen Appiah should not be recalled to the Black Stars after recent calls by fans for the former captain’s return.

Appiah, the former inspirational captain of the Black Stars, retired from the national team after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

But after playing in a recent exhibition game organised by Michael Essien, some Ghana fans and respected administrators have called for his return.

Appiah himself failed to rule out a return in a recent interview which has sparked a debate whether the former Juventus star should be handed a recall.

But Kuffuor, who played for Bayern Munich in his prime, says Appiah must admit he can’t play football forever.

“He has done his part and done it very well. He was with the Black Stars when I was there, he has been the captain. He can’t play for the rest of his life,” Kuffuor said.

“It will happen to everybody and then they will have to stop at some point.

“Anthony Yeboah, Abedi Pele all left at a point. We hailed Polo some time back but he is not playing again. So we should just let him enjoy his time out,” Kuffuor said.
