The 18-year-old centre-back is considered to be one of the most promising defenders in Ligue 1, and he has been linked with Manchester United, Lille and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Spanish giants.

It has been suggested that Varane has been convinced by former France international Zidane that he will play a role in Madrid’s first team next year, and it could sway his decision as to where to continue his career.

Varane exclusively told Goal.com about his admiration for Real Madrid and Manchester United on Tuesday, although added that he had yet to make a final decision on his future.

United reportedly tabled a bid of £9.2 million for the starlet last week, but neither Lens nor Varane have commented on a proposed transfer so far, with the France under-21 starlet expected to make his decision in the coming days.
