Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink: It could be the end of Didier Drogba & Nicolas Anelka if Chelsea sign Porto’s Radamel Falcao

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes that the potential signing of Radamel Falcao would see Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka parting ways with the club.

The former River Plate hitman’s agent had exclusively revealed to Goal.com that the Colombia international would be willing to make a move to Stamford Bridge, should Andre Villas-Boas make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Now that the west London club have announced the signing of the Portuguese boss on a three-year deal, Hasselbaink feels that the potential arrival of Falcao could see the two experienced forwards looking for greener pastures.

“Falcao is a goalscorer. A predator. If he comes in then that means it will be the end of Anelka and Drogba because it is going to be between Fernando Torres and Falcao,” he said, according to The Mirror.

“I dont see them playing both together because Vilas Boas likes to play in a 4-3-3 style.

“Think about it. Drogba can only play through the middle. Torres can only play through the middle.

“You can’t really play Torres together with Drogba. So it is one or the other.

“Anelka’s best position? Its through the middle.

“If Falcao comes its going to be through the middle. And Vilas Boas wants to play in a 4-3-3. So only one can play at a time.

“I don’t see Drogba sitting on the bench the whole year through. Or playing one game every so often.”
