Daily Independent (Lagos) Johnson Ayantunji Assistant 16 June 2011 Lagos — Some members of the Kwara United Supporters Club have raised alarm of an alleged plan by the team's opponent this weekend to cause trouble in a bid to grab the three points at the Ilorin Stadium. Speaking on behalf of the supporters who called themselves "Loyal Supporters of Kwara United", Mohammed Abbas, said they have uncovered ploy by their opponent this weekend to induce some paid fans to cause mayhem and thereby benefit the maximum points at the detriment of their darling team. Abbas added that the planned mayhem was to embarrass the state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed as well as the club management over the delay in paying the players' sign-on fees and allowances

West Ham chairman David Gold has said that the club have not yet given up on keeping Scott Parker after their relegation to the Championship.

After previously saying that it would be unfair to keep any internationals at the club given West Ham’s relegated status, Gold appears to have u-turned on the issue believing Sam Allardyce may turn the tide in convincing players to stay.

He told Sky Sports News: “Until Sam gets back and speaks to him we haven’t given up on the possibility that we can keep Scott Parker.

“That will be an issue for Sam. He will be back in the office on Monday and I guess that’s when the hard work starts.”

West Ham completed the signing on Thursday of Kevin Nolan from Newcastle, a player Gold describes as “iconic”.

He continued: “He is a quality, quality player.

“The relationship between him and Sam Nolan’s manager at Bolton is very important. He’s captaincy material, he’s got that determination, will and desire to win which Sam has and the owners have.

“I know the fans are delighted, it’s an absolute coup for West Ham.

“If we were still in the Premier League you would expect West Ham to be pursuing a player of his quality so to be in the Championship and persuade a great player to come to us…this is the player we can build our squad around, an iconic player.”
