Moratti is believed to be keen on such a course of action as it would provide Inter with some funds and he would hope to convince Manchester City to end their pursuit of Udinese’s star Chilean Alexis Sanchez, who has long been a target for the Milan giants.

Furthermore, Tevez has long made it clear that he does not see his future at Eastlands and while a move to his homeland is out of the question, he would be open to a transfer to Inter, who have a number of Argentine players such as Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso and Walter Samuel already on their books.

The news comes in light of Eto’o’s recent comments to the same newspaper in which he opened the door to a move to the Premier League.

“I am now 30 years old and it is very important for me to think about my future before I sign what could be my last contract,” said the striker, who bagged 37 goals in all competitions last term. “I have already shown that I have what it takes to play in Italy and I now have the idea of proving myself in England.”

Given the sizeable wages that Eto’o commands at the Giuseppe Meazza, there are few other alternative destinations. However, Real Madrid could offer either Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema should Jose Mourinho want to be reunited with is former hotshot. Premier League outfit Chelsea are also on the look-out for another world-class player up front.
