Akure — APPREHENSION and uncertainty now pervade the home of the National Legal Adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olusola Oke, whose 83 years old mother, Madam Mariam Oke was Monday night kidnapped by unknown gunmen as the abductors are yet to contact the family.
Expressing the concerns of the family, Chief Oke lamented that no clue had been found so far on the whereabout of her mother. Oke who appeal to the kidnappers to “please spare an innocent old woman this trauma”, said he had waited for 40 anxious hours for the kidnappers to “at least let us know their motive”.
He expressed appreciation to Nigerians who have been calling to sympathise with him on the incident.
Oke said that his mind “would have been at rest by now if I know the condition of my mother. This is getting too nervous for the family to bear.”
According to him “no clue has also been found to unravel the characters behind the incident which took place under cover of darkness at the headquarters of the oil-producing Ilaje local council of Ondo State .
Police authorities in the state said that a team of detective had been put “together to trail the abductors and secure the release of the old woman.”
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PRO, Mr. Adeniran Aremu, said however that the Police had not gotten any lead yet, “but we are sure of getting them. Although we have started the investigation, we are yet to come up with a clue that could lead us to the abductors. We are also conscious of the safety of the old woman, it is a delicate situation.”
The State government which condemned the abduction, pledged to offer “any assistance that the police might need to secure the release of the old woman unharmed.”
