Luanda — The ex-Angolan coach of national football squad Oliveira Gonçalves has expressed optimism about the country’s qualification for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2012, scheduled to take place simultaneously in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Speaking to the press at the end of Sunday match held in Luanda’s “11 de Novembro” Stadium in which Petro de Luanda team beat 2-0 Santos FC, the former coach said that mathematically it is possible to perform two game at the end – one in Luanda with Uganda and another one in Bissau against Guinea.

Oliveira Gonçalves, who is currently holding the post as vice-president of Santos FC, recalled that in the qualification for the 2006 World Cup held in Germany, the national team “Palancas Negras” also faced similar situation.

“We have the possibility to reach there. We have to win the two matches still lying ahead and also think of Uganda defeat against Kenya”, the former coach expressed optimism.
