WARRI – GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State is reportedly taking his time to scrutinize the operations and financial transactions of the different government ministries and agencies with a view to streamlining their operations before announcing new Commissioners and other political appointees.

Vanguard learnt that the Governor met with heads of banking institutions in the state recently and directed them to submit to his office, account details of the various parasatals and agencies with their banks.

A source said, “the governor has a lot of information at his disposal at the moment and his plan is to ensure a proper accounting system in government, but in the present case, he discovered that some  agencies opened accounts with some banks without clearance from the Accountant General of the state and he wants to block holes from which the finances of the state are leaking.”

Chairman of the Law Review Committee of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Prince Maikpobi Okareme, who spoke to Vanguard on the directive by the governor,  said it was a welcome development.
