Afabet — The inhabitants of Gadim-Halib administrative area, Afabet sub-zone, are carrying out development activities aimed at boosting agricultural production.

The popular campaign includes leveling of land plots and diverting river water flowing from the highlands, as well as construction and renovation of embankments. About 1,600-meter long water catchments have so far been constructed, in addition to leveling over 6,000 hectares of land.

The chairman of farmers’ association in Wadi-Labka, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Shosheb, pointed out that the local inhabitants are doing their level best for the effective implementation of the envisaged programs, particularly in efforts to achieve food security.

The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Hagos Gebretinsae, on his part commended the active participation of the farming community in the undertakings.
