OWERRI – The leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State has assured loyalists that it was carefully studying the pronouncements of Governor Rochas Okorocha, with a view to taking the most appropriate actions.
PDP State Chairman, Sir Eze Duruiheoma, SAN, who made the stand of his party known during a press conference in Owerri, also said some of the governor’s pronouncements outrightly ran foul of the laws of the land.
He said: “We are weighing so many options to tackle and correct these latest developments created by the pronouncement of the present administration in the state.”
He was particularly irked by the sacking of the 10,000-job beneficiaries from office, as well as unceremonious removal of public office holders, including local council operators, from their tenured offices.
Duruiheoma said: “Governor Okorocha swore to defend and protect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The dissolution of the local councils and management of local government development centres, established by law, is in total breach of the law.”
On the dumping of PDP platform by four members of the state House of Assembly in preference for All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Duruiheoma warned that his party would not fold its arms and watch as the ugly developments play out.
“We should try to, as much as possible, avoid the law of the jungle,” the Imo PDP boss pleaded.
