Firebrand Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has descended heavily on former President Rawlings on his recent comments at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi where he described former members of the New Patriotic Party NPP administration as thieves. At the 32nd commemoration of the June 4 uprising, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings alleged that the NPP administration in its 8-year rule plundered state resources, amassed wealth and killed many innocent Ghanaians to perpetuate their rule

The former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins has given his support to the predicted addition of Guus Hiddink as the Blues’ new manager.

The Dutch manager did have a successful but brief spell at the helm of the club in 2009 as caretaker manager, whilst still carrying on with duties for the Russian national team.

Hiddink’s departure as boss of the Turkish national team will set Chelsea back £4 million in compensation fees, but Wilkins told Sky Sports News why he thought Hiddink was the best option

He said: “Guus obviously knows the guys from being there a couple of years ago and won the FA Cup as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

“He knows the ins and outs of Stamford Bridge, so from that aspect I would say Guus would be a first-class appointment.

“I am saddened by the fact that Carlo is no longer there, but if they are going to get someone in, then Guus knows the guys, the way they work, their mentality and I don’t think he would have a problem.”

Hiddink’s arrival does not cause any worry for Wilkins but the former England international is sceptical over some rumours of a change to the backroom structure at the club.

He continued: “If we are talking about someone like Mark Hughes or Marco van Basten going in with Guus, I am not quite sure whether that works, purely and simply because they are managers themselves.

“I don’t think that works too well, but that is entirely up to club what they wish to do.

“But I would certainly say if they are going to get Guus as the main man, then there is really no problem with that whatsoever.”

After taking the club to the Champions League semi-finals in 2009 Roman Abramovich reportedly sees Hiddink as the man to get bring the elusive Champions League title to Stamford Bridge.
