Kenny Dalglish will try to sign Ipswich’s prized asset Connor Wickham this summer as he looks to build a side to challenge for the Premier League title.
Liverpool are set for a busy summer of spending after making a bid for Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson and being linked with moves for Phil Jones, Ashley Young and Charles N’Zogbia.
Now The Telegraph reports that they will look to make a big money move for Wickham.
Wickham has been a shining light in recent seasons for Ipswich despite the club failing to challenge for promotion, though the Tractor Boys will not let their coveted starlet leave cheaply and have reportedly put a price-tag of £15 million on the young striker’s head.
The 18-year-old has previously attracted interest from Tottenham, and at 6ft 3in he has been likened to Alan Shearer. A move to the Premier League is thought likely to be just a matter of time.
Dalglish was heavily backed in the January transfer window with mega money moves for Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez and is understood to have a sizeable transfer kitty at his disposal this summer as he looks to stamp his own mark on the Liverpool squad. That could well test Ipswich’s resolve.
