Shabait.com (Asmara) 2 June 2011 Asmara — The newly constructed VIP Lounge in Asmara Stadium was inaugurated today in the presence of ministers, senior sports officials of both Eritrea and Qatar, as well as invited guests. Speaking on the occasion, the Eritrean Sports Commissioner, Maj.General Romodan Osman Awuliyay, expressed appreciation to the Qatari Olympic Committee for its support in the finalization of the project.

Asmara — President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with Qatari delegation headed by the Secretary General of the country’s Olympic Committee, Sheik Seud Bin Abdurahman Al-Thani.

During the meeting, President Isaias noted the significance of enhancing cooperation between the two sisterly countries in the domain of sports. He further underlined the need to organize friendly matches between the countries of the region and the Middle East as it would strengthen relations among peoples. The President also commended Qatari’s cooperation in the field of sports.

Sheik Seud Bin Abdurahman Al-Thani indicated that Qatari’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation in sports, and that he would forward the contents of his discussion with President Isaias regarding sports to the Crown Prince of Qatar.

The high-level Qatari sports delegation headed by the Secretary General of the country’s Olympic Committee, Sheik Seud Bin Abdurahman Al-Thani, arrived in Asmara yesterday on a working visit.
