The Bank of Ghana will Thursday issue a three-year bond to raise funds to pay off maturing short-dated government instruments. Joy Business has also learnt government would also use part of the proceeds from the bond sale to fund some expenses in this year's budget.

Management of Capital View Hotel in the Eastern regional capital, Koforidua, are reported to have stripped naked an unspecified number of workers on suspicion that someone among them was stealing cash from the hotel.

The naked search, said to have occurred on May 18, 2011, however yielded no results because the ‘missing money’ could not be found on any of the ‘suspects’.

Investigations into the incident show that Harriet Brobbey Djumor; chief cashier of the hotel and Ernestina Djumor; the Deputy Director who is also the daughter of the Managing Director, masterminded the stripping of the workers.

The ‘suspects’ including three ladies and an unspecified number of male workers were suspected of a recurring theft at the hotel and the spot search was expected to expose the ‘thief’ among them.

One of the ladies was said to be in her period at the time.

Harriet Brobbey Djumor, the chief cashier, investigations revealed, had for some time now been complaining of monies getting missing from her office.

Based on the allegation, a security man was posted to watch over the office on the eve of the spot nude search. The measure however did not help much as Harriet claimed that some monies still got missing the next day.

She therefore lined the workers up, and with the assistance of Ernestina Djumor (Deputy Director) stripped and searched the workers in the morning of the fateful day.

Meanwhile, the General Manager, Nana Antobre, denied the incident ever happened when confronted with the workers’ ordeal, saying as far as he was concerned, the incident never happened.

The workers however insist he is the very person who called them after the incident and apologised to them, entreating them also to never let the matter get to the public.
