Abuja – The office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on Wednesday prayed for an order of court to file charges against one Peter Atai for committing incest.

Atai, 47, of Utako village, Abuja, was alleged to have had carnal knowledge of his 21-year-old daughter, Susan Peter, thereby committing an offence punishable under section 13(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act.

Mrs Sauda Musa, Counsel for AGF, is also praying for leave to file charges against one Aminu Idris of Utako Village, Abuja, for allegedly harbouring the Susan with intent of having carnal knowledge of her.

Idris is also alleged to have deprived the girl’s parents of her possession thereby committing an offence punishable under section 19(e) of the Trafficking in Persons (prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act.

In a statement to the police, Susan said she was deflowered by her father when she was nine years old, and he had been sleeping with her twice a day since then.

Susan added that she reported the incident to her mother but she did nothing about it.

Susan said she later brought Idris, who sells suya near their house, to beg her father to leave her alone but when the abuse continued, she begged Idris to allow her to stay with him.

Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu adjourned the matter to June 8 for hearing of the application to file charges. (NAN)
