Kaduna — Barely 24 hours after Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa and the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalam Yero, took the oath of office, two set of bombs exploded in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State leaving four people injured.

The first explosion occurred at White House beer joint at PZ in Sabon Gari local government area leaving two workers of the beer parlour injured while the second explosion that occurred early hours of yesterday occurred at the Ungwa Juma in Zaria city.

In the Monday explosion, two kids of the same parent on their way to fetch water narrowly escaped death when the bomb exploded but sustained injuries, while the second explosion had two people sustaining injuries, no casualty was said to be recorded during the explosions.

An eye witness said, “Although no death was reported, those critically injured in the first blast were rushed to nearby hospitals were they are currently receiving treatment.

It could be recalled that prior to the inauguration ceremony there were rumours in and around the state that members of Boko Haram were allegedly planning to disrupt the celebration. The police however debunked the rumours even as security men were said to be stationed in the violence prone areas.

The inauguration ceremony in Kaduna was peaceful amidst tight security, while the state governor assured all residents in the state of security of life and property.

When contacted, the police public Relation Officer DSP Aminu Lawan said, “The area presently is calm because our bomb explosion experts were immediately deployed to the two scene of the incidence, all the areas is been combed in search of the perpetrators, also our intelligence gathering has been intensified. Our prompt response to the scene of the incidence helped in minimising the impact of the explosion.”

He called on the general public to give relevant information of any suspicious movement of persons or groups that could help the police to checkmate the activities of the perpetrators of such dastardly acts.
