President Reiterates Support for Youth Issues and Participation

Khartoum — President of the Republic Omar Al-Bashir has renewed his support for youth issues and expanding their political participation and contribution in decision-making process in t he government and the state. This came when he addressed, Wednesday, the opening ceremony of the African Union youth headquarters in Khartoum organized at the Friendship Hall, where he pointed out that the Sudan was a young nation with more than 60% of Sudanese are under the age of thirty, stressing that the youth are the cornerstone of political and economic stability in the country.

He added that Sudan has set out the youth issues within the interests of the State where it was included in the country’s overall strategy and among the priorities of the StateHe called on the youth not to get involved in conflicts and wars, and to invest their energies for peace and construction, to work with responsibility to maintain national sovereignty and to set free the African decision from dependence and subordination, calling on them to strive against the illiteracy and educational dropout. He stressed that the initiative to host the headquarters of the African Union for youth indicated that Sudan has a historical and a leading role in Africa, affirming that Sudan was still retaining its liberal vitality in order to promote Africa’s sons and to protect its gains , resources and to exploit its energies away from the hands of the greedy, demanding the African governments to pay attention to youth issues, particularly employment. He noted that Sudan has made good success in this field.
