WEDNESDAY noon was agog when youths from Matero Township and nearby areas converged at Matero Boys Secondary School to celebrate Africa Freedom Day in style.

Several activities were lined up with music being the main attraction of the day as renowned artistes Dalisoul, Slap Dee, P Jay, Ruff Kid and Jonny C, were called upon to spice the Freedom Youth fiesta.

The organisers made sure that all areas of entertainment were catered for, a choral group from Mambilima Basic School and the traditional dancers from Kasamba School also had their share of the stage.

The show which was attended by Matero MP, Faustina Sinyangwe, attracted a huge crowd mainly teenagers.

Before the main acts, the MP urged youths not to indulge in illicit activities as they were the future leaders.

She further advised them not to associate themselves with violent politicians with no vision for the country and encouraged them to support the Government because it considered them (youths) in its developmental programmes.

The show was punctuated with remarks such as “Speeches over, let the party begin!! Some upcoming artistes warmed the stage for the Nomba Ninshi star – Slap D with his XYZ crew.

The XYZ team clad in T-shirts printed on them the song of the moment under-neath the big XYZ letters – Nomba Ninshi, belted the audiences favourite tunes. Nichigwile was greeted with much delight as it was performed in a splendid fashion.

Other songs from Slap Dee that mesmerised the youths were the controversial Fo Shizze, Gold Digger and Sivizakasila.

While Slap D and company were wrapping up their stage acts, P Jay and Ruff Kid emerged on stage amid cheers from the youngsters. Between the two, Ruff Kid Kang’ono, was the better entertainer as he churned out Rape and Ruff Bwezako Volume. P Jay in spite of being given a thunderous welcome on stage failed to impress, seemingly because he looked drunk and couldn’t coordinate himself well on the podium.

The tall energetic Dalisoul popularly known as Mwana wa Mukomboni, left no stone unturned and did what was expected of him, by giving the youths a full parked 30 minutes performance that saw him teaming up with Shyman and Rich Bizz.

The thrilled youths could not resist the sounds of Musunge Mushe (ATM), Muzina Lake and Chipyango.
