UGHELLI— INDICATIONS, Monday, emerged that Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, may name a three-time member of the state House of Assembly, Mr Funkekeme Solomon, as Secretary to the State Government.
Vanguard gathered that the choice of Solomon, who represented Burutu Constituency II in the outgoing fourth Assembly, was not unconnected with his contribution to the victory of Governor Uduaghan both in the January 6, rerun and the April 26, governorship elections.
Solomon according to a reliable source, has been a key member of the kitchen cabinet of Governor Uduaghan’s administration from 2007 till date and was Publicity Secretary of the G3, a political pressure group formed in 2006 by the Isoko, Itsekiri and Ijaw with Dr. Uduaghan as its then chairman.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, also named the immediate past commissioner for power and energy, comrade Ovuozorie Macauley as one of those penned down for the SSG job in the State.
According to source, “Solomon Funkekeme maybe named SSG between now and tomorrow (today) morning. Take it or leave it; he is the next SSG.
“He has been with the Governor since 2007, then the governor was SSG, aspiring to be governor of the State. He is an integral part of this administration.”
Solomon, is of the Ijaw extraction and was a staff of the State Printing and Publishing Company, publishers of the Pointer titles. He resigned from the company, went into politics and was elected as a member of the State House of Assembly in 1999, re-elected in 2003 and 2007.
He did not run for a fourth term perhaps, he was sure of getting good appointive position in the State.
