Editor of the “Informer” Newspaper”, Andy Kankam says he has reason to believe that a Flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rushed to the Registrar General’s Department to patent the NDC party colours and umbrella symbols.

According to him, though he cannot name the particular candidate; he is certain that President John Evans Atta Mills is not the culprit, adding that it could either be a representative of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings or Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah.

He added that the only reason why one will think of patenting the NDC party colours and symbols is simply because the person or group of persons know they cannot win the flagbearership elections; “so their intention is to rush to court to rule that the NDC’s colours and umbrella symbol do not belong to the party but to him or her. In the process, the NDC will be forced to look for new colours and symbol which will, in turn, confuse the party’s supporters.”

Speaking to Suhini Alhassan on Radio Gold, Mr. Kankam said: “they know victory will never come their way and so they are doing everything they can to derail Professor Mills’ ‘Better Ghana’ Agenda. It can be the former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings or Dr. Spio Garbrah who picked his forms yesterday. I know for a fact that President Mills is not nursing such moves,” he stated.

The editor of the pro-government newspaper disclosed that a source at the Registrar General’s office provided him the information, and so his allegations are not just mere speculations that should be discounted.
