She’ib Farmers Association Striving to Achieve Food Security

    The farmers association in She’ib sub-zone disclosed that the ongoing efforts to achieve food security would continue in an enhanced manner.

    They explained that activities are being stepped up to divert flowing river waters for agricultural purpose, besides reinforcing soil and water conservation endeavors. In this connection, they lauded the participation of female farmers in the undertakings.

    The secretary of the association, Mr. Mahmoud Saleh Shinkhai, indicated that the association that was established in the 1980s was reorganized in 2004. At present, it has a total of 3,600 members, out of whom 586 are females, and possesses over 200,000 hectares.
