Luanda — The Orange CAF Confederation Cup holders, FUS Rabat from Morocco were eliminated from this year’s competition at the hands of Angola’s 1º de Agosto and their team coach El Houssaine Ammouta agreed that the tie was lost at home, when they were held to draw 1-1 by the Angolans two weeks ago.

Ammouta concurred that the Angolans had been technically sound and merited their win over the two games: “I’m not sad about the elimination, because my squad is under construction. We did not have three key players in the team and that’s huge deficit”.

According Ammouta, FUS Rabat, despite winning the competition in 2010, it was not possible for them to defend their title this year and the first leg result at home proved to be their major downfall.

He stressed that although his players were well recognized they lacked experience: “You can not demand too much from a team with such limitations and in a rebuilding phase for future commitments.”

The challenge of first leg was too big to overcome today at Coqueiros Stadium, in Luanda. FUS Rabat lost 1-0 after Amaro penalty kick converted in the 34minutes gave 1º de Agosto a 2-1 aggregate win .
