Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United should forget about the game in Gelsenkirchen last week when they welcome Schalke to Old Trafford on Wednesday night for their Champions League semi-final second leg.
The Red Devils dominated proceedings in the first encounter as they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, but Ferdinand is only focusing on the game ahead.
Speaking to United Review, Ferdinand said: “We played really well in Germany – I don’t think many teams in the world could have dealt with our attacking play over there.
“But tonight is a different game altogether and we know we still have a job to do if we’re to get through to the final.”
He added: “Of course, it’s hard not to think about Wembley already because it’s such a big thing and you’re so close, but that won’t get in the way of what we have to do.
“A lot of the players in our squad have played in Champions League semi-finals before so we know what to expect and the magnitude of the game won’t be a problem for us to handle.”
The two-goal lead United hold puts them in the prime position to advance to the Wembley final on May 28, where they would face Barcelona after Pep Guardiola’s side knocked Real Madrid out with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
