IMMEDIATE past Secretary to the Edo State Government and House of Representatives member- elect  for Owan Federal Constituency, Mr Pally Iriase, Saturday, called for caution on the recent call by some individuals for the abrogation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to  the recent killings of corps members in some parts of the north.

According to him, “it will be attempting to throw both the bad water and the child away to say that we should abrogate the NYSC scheme. Honestly, the scheme is very important and helpful to our attempt to unify the country. No matter what has happened, people should not go to that extreme to suggest that the scheme should be abrogated. What has happened is very condemnable and it is unacceptable because we witnessed a free and fair election.

“I don’t know why you will single out NYSC members for destruction, that is evil. Now, on the basis of one man one vote which we believe in Edo  State, we believe that the outcome of the Presidential election mirrored the feeling and the wishes of the people. There was no doubt about it. Even members of our party, the ACN, decided for whatever reason, to vote whom they like”.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader in Edo State added that “the votes President Goodluck Jonathan got from Edo  was a true reflection of the decision of the people. Over there where they caused that mayhem, I believe it is a shame and it does not reflect very well on the personality of those who are the promoters of this violence.”
