VMSIX Seeks Funding

Time and time again, when we look at history critically, people who have produced phenomenal results are those who set goals that everybody else thought were crazy and unrealistic, unattainable and beyond reach. But here is the truth. Come to think of it this way; If 25 years ago someone told you that almost everybody will be walking around with a small electronic device, the size of a credit card, would you have believed that person?

An accomplished local music group this week turned to the public to raise funds for an upcoming tour to Finland.

Vocal Motion Six (VMSIX) was recently nominated to take part in a contest which will be held in conjunction with the Tampere Finland Vocal Music Festival, which will be held in June this year. The Tampere festival, however, does not provide funding for travelling or accommodation.

The group was nominated after submitting a number of songs from its album, Search and Find, for the contest in December last year.

The nomination results were made public on 23 March and VMSIX is amongst 14 international groups who qualified for the contest, which is scheduled to take place from 8 to 12 June this year. In order to raise funds, VMSIX will host two shows before the group departs for Finland. The first show will be held on Sunday, 29 May 2011 at the National Theatre of Namibia. The show will start at 18:00 and tickets will be sold for N$50.

On Saturday, 4 June 2011, the second show will be held at NICE restaurant. The show starts at 20:30 and tickets cost N$50.00. The show on 4 June will be hosted a night before VMSIX’s departure to Finland.

In May, VMSIX will also host 20 minute free promotional performances for members of the public, media and corporate companies. The date and venue for these events will be announced in due course.
