Lagos – Still basking in the euphoria of the peaceful general elections, Lagos state says there will be no restriction of movement during Saturday’s monthly sanitation exercise across the state.
Dr Muiz Banire, Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment said in statement that the decision was to allow for free movement of people, currently celebrating with elected candidates.
“Lagos should not be left out in the celebration of the nation’s successfully conducted elections.
“The government has, therefore, directed that restriction of movement be suspended in this month’s sanitation period,’’ it said.
The statement, however, enjoined residents to carry out cleaning exercises in their premises, shops and streets.
It urged them to come out early and clear and de-silt drains in their surroundings, to allow for free flow of water.
The statement cautioned residents against the dumping of refuse into drains, on highways, streets and unauthorized places.
It advised them to always ensure proper disposal of their generated waste, to protect their environment from further deterioration.
The statement said Private Sector Participants (PSPs) have been directed by the government to ensure prompt collection and disposal of such waste
